Explore your Northumberland 2026 offers a fantastic opportunity to encourage Northumberland residents to discover what’s on their doorstep. Taking place on 21st and 22nd March 2026, during English Tourism Week, this two-day festival aims to encourage residents to explore their home county, discover new experiences and support the incredible range of businesses that make Northumberland special.
Some of Northumberland’s most popular attractions are taking part, with offers from Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum, Northumberland College Zoo, Bamburgh Castle, The Alnwick Garden, English Heritage, National Trust and many more. Ranging from free entry to kids-go-free offers, it’s a fantastic opportunity for residents to discover their home county at a discounted rate. Some eateries are also offering deals over the weekend and visitors can redeem offers at Fire and Dough and The Tempus.
Andrew Fox, chair of Visit Northumberland, said: “We are thrilled that so many fantastic businesses are taking part in Explore your Northumberland. We hope that offering exclusive experiences for residents will help inspire local pride, support local communities and allow attractions to reach local audiences who may have never visited their business before. It is also a great way to celebrate English Tourism Week and engage with Visit England’s country-wide campaign to keep Northumberland experiences firmly on the map for future visitors from outside the region.”
Cllr Wendy Pattison, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism said: “Explore your Northumberland is a wonderful opportunity for residents to rediscover the incredible places, stories and experiences that make our county so special.
"Northumberland is rich in culture, history and natural beauty, and this celebration allows our communities to enjoy it first‑hand while supporting the fantastic local businesses and attractions that play such a vital role in our visitor economy. I’m delighted to see so many partners getting involved, and I hope residents take full advantage of the brilliant offers available throughout the weekend.”
In order to take part, visitors should simply bring proof of Northumberland residency (such as a council tax statement, utility bill, or local ID) when visiting participating businesses and attractions on 21 and 22 March. Each offer has its own terms and conditions and some offers are bookable online, so check individual listings before you visit. Full details of offers and discounts are listed on Visit Northumberland’s website.
