Securing Sustainable Visitor Economy Growth for the England Visitor Economy Strategy

Visit Northumberland joined the country’s 33 other LVEPS at the England Visitor Economy Strategy LVEP Consultation to help secure sustainable growth for the visitor economy.

Hosted by VisitEngland, the session was to receive our input on behalf of all Northumberland visitor economy businesses to help England win its share of the Oxford Economic forecast of 67% growth in travel and associated 86% growth in expenditure by 2030.

Outcomes will help develop a comprehensive strategy for England's visitor economy to drive sustainable growth for people and places.

The strategy's four emerging pathways focus on:
•     People
•     Place
•     Partnership
•     Prosperity
underpinned by a regenerative approach, which will support visitor economies that leave places better than they were before. It will also champion accessible and inclusive tourism, removing barriers to provide a positive welcome and experience for all.

The strategy will become a blueprint for the development of the English visitor economy, encompassing economic, social and environmental goals. At the heart of the strategy will be a regenerative approach to underpin sustainable growth, building on the recently published regenerative visitor economy ambitions of the North East Regenerative Visitor Economy Framework.

The strategy will cover the period 2025 -2030 and will be co-created, co-owned and co-delivered in partnership by VisitEngland, LVEPs and other industry bodies and will outline joint ambitions and priorities for delivery.

Due for publication in Spring 2025, the strategy will be hosted on the VisitEngland website.
