Visit Northumberland wins Digital Campaign of the Year

We are thrilled to announce that Visit Northumberland was awarded Digital Campaign of the Year at the glittering awards ceremony held at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden on Wednesday (30th March). Digital Campaign of the Year was the final and most anticipated of the 19 categories announced at the event, and Visit Northumberland was up against stiff competition, beating Visit Sweden and Virgin Voyages to come away with the title. The award recognises achievements in innovation, design and technology within the UK travel and tourism industry’s digital environments over the past two years.

This recognition was all thanks to Visit Northumberland’s autumn/ winter marketing campaign promoting Northumberland’s endless experiences. Designed in conjunction with The Traveller and the Bear, media managed by SD Advertising and funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority, the campaign was one of Visit Northumberland’s most successful ever, generating record web traffic in October. Surpassing benchmark click-through rates, achieving a reach of 371,000 and delivering over one million impressions in our geo-targeted locations, it featured catchy straplines including, “Forget Ibiza, this is where the nightlife is,” promoting Northumberland’s fantastic dark skies. As well as Visit Northumberland’s own suite of uplifting video and photographic assets, it also generated over 38 pieces of unique influencer content across their Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and blog channels.

Andrew Fox, chair of Visit Northumberland, said: “We are extremely honoured that Visit Northumberland has been awarded Digital Campaign of the Year. This is yet another proud moment amongst what already feels like a successful year, following the county’s recent achievements in the North East England Tourism Awards. Winning this award will further raise the profile of the Visit Northumberland website, as well as of Northumberland as a holiday destination and our fantastic tourism businesses.”

Cris Brown, head of marketing and communications at Visit Northumberland, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award recognising the hard work of the team. It was a pleasure working with The Traveller and the Bear and SD Advertising on our Endless Experiences campaign which highlighted just some of the fabulous experiences that are on offer in Northumberland.”

Other UK destination and industry winners were VisitBritain for Best Food and Drink Campaign; Visit Jersey for Best Influencer Campaign; Visit Scotland for Best Support for Sustainability in Travel and Tourism;  LNER for Best Transportation Website; and UKInbound for Best Industry Professional Services Website and Best Webinar Series. Visit Bath and Visit Lincoln were other DMO nominees.
